Ron – I felt like a part of the family

My condition was called ectropion, which is characterised by the lower eyelid turning outwards and could lead to damage to the cornea if not treated. It was very uncomfortable, I had to clear my eyes every morning, so I thought I’ve got to do something.

When approaching different hospitals, I found not many of them could treat my condition and there were also delays due to the Covid pandemic. At Moorfields Private everything was straightforward.

I’ve been to Moorfields before, for my cataract treatment, which was dealt with very efficiently. The hospital has a brilliant reputation so, I thought this was the place to go for my private treatment too.

My treatment and aftercare were excellent from start to finish. My consultant was very considerate, friendly, and attentive. At my first consultation, she explained the whole procedure to me, step-by-step, including the pre-surgery treatments, the surgery itself and the aftercare. It was nice talking to her, and I didn’t feel stressed at all. I was also given booklets to take home. And later, when I was having my eyes cleaned by another member of staff, my consultant would often pop in to ask how I was doing. If I wanted to ask any questions, she’d immediately clarify everything giving me peace of mind. I felt like a part of the family!

I had both my eyes treated at Moorfields Private, one after the other. Now I am back swimming, which is a big part of my life. I am doing everything normally, no problem at all. My vision is clearer, my eyes are no longer watering, they are not sore, and my wife says I look younger!
