Juliet has been working at Moorfields for over six years, and was previously a service manager for A&E, urgent care and general ophthalmology at City Road.
Juliet's role involves working with stakeholders to support planning, designing and implementing of the new electronic patient record for A&E and urgent care services across the trust.
I absolutely love walking outdoors and take part in organised long-distance hikes throughout the year. The longest ones I've done are 100 kilometres over a weekend, which takes me about 30 hours to finish.
Has there been one example or situation which has made you feel an additional sense of pride working at Moorfields and why?
I finished my Master's in healthcare leadership in January 2024, and I was so proud to be recognised at the Moorfields Stars event later that year. Moorfields Stars is such a wonderful event that celebrates the amazing achievements of staff across the trust - it's truly a highlight and a reminder of the incredible work we do. Moments like this make me feel really proud to be part of the team at Moorfields.
How do you personally try and create a better work/life balance?
After a busy day at work, I love going to the gym for a workout or going for a swim. It's such a great way to unwind and really helps me switch from work mode to home mode. I also believe in eating well, so I've been having fun experimenting with new recipes lately and getting a little more adventurous in the kitchen.
My tip? Find ways to stay healthy that work for you and your lifestyle. That way, you can create a balance that feels good and a realistic routine that you'll stick to.
What makes you happy?
I love walking outdoors in the countryside - it makes me very happy. It's the perfect way to unwind, both physically and mentally, and it always brings a sense of calm. Of course, it's even better when the sun's out, but honestly, even when the weather's not great, I still enjoy it. There's something about slowing down and escaping everyday life that makes it all worthwhile.
How do you support our Greener NHS ambitions?
I do my best to avoid food waste at home by only buying what I need. I freeze vegetable peelings to make stock, which I then use to create soups with leftover veggies that might otherwise go to waste. It's a great way to turn those scraps into a hearty lunch, and it saves me from having to buy sandwiches every day.
I also do my bit by recycling whatever I can and using apps, such as Olio, to give away unwanted items to save them from going to the tip.
Do you have a pet?
I have a cat called Sylar. I adopted him nearly 13 years ago, so he is quite an old man now but in pretty good shape for his age. He is a real cuddle monster and will demand attention from absolutely anyone.
When I'm in virtual meetings at home, he often makes an appearance to let everyone know it's lunchtime. His favourite pastimes are eating, sleeping and having his face stroked.
