Commercial divisions

Moorfields has two commercial divisions – Moorfields Private and Moorfields Eye Hospital UAE. 

These units exist entirely to augment and support the care we provide to NHS patients by generating income from outside the NHS, which can then be reinvested in services for all our patients.   

Moorfields Private is the London-based private division of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Since opening in 2004, we have built an international reputation as a well-respected and trusted provider of high quality private eye care services which includes consultations and treatment for adults and children.

Our dedicated private facilities offer fee-paying patients added comfort and convenience for both day cases and overnight stays.

Being part of Moorfields provides the reassurance that our patients will have access to world-class consultant eye specialists who provide treatment and care for private patients with a wide range of eye problems, from common complaints to the most complex eye health conditions.

We offer the most comprehensive range of eye care services available in the UK, which includes the latest laser and implantable contact lens treatments for vision correction and consultants specialising in cosmetic eye treatment.

Our private patients have access to the most comprehensive range of ophthalmic services available in the UK. And the financial surplus is re-invested back into Moorfields to support NHS services.

Moorfields Eye Hospital UAE was established in Dubai in 2006 to provide the same outstanding standard of care in the Middle East. Moorfields Eye Hospital Centre was established in 2015 after a clear need for better access to patient care in Abu Dhabi was identified, and to bring the Moorfields standards closer to the residents of the UAE capital.

Since opening, Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai has treated over 180,000 patients from more than 90 countries, and is now widely regarded as a leader in Eye Care in the Middle East.

It has also become a reference for UK health organisations as a successful NHS overseas healthcare operation. The full range of eye care services is offered at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, from basic screenings to complex surgeries through a team of both permanent and visiting Consultants.

Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai paediatric ophthalmology department also conduct complex surgeries for babies at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, the first paediatric specialty hospital in Dubai, and also offers undergraduate training to Dubai Medical College students and contributes to education and research programs to encourage and facilitate world-class teaching within the region.
