My name is Adnin Chowdhury.
I work as the ophthalmic vision science practitioner in the paediatrics department, and I've worked at Moorfields for two and a half years. My role at Moorfields entails using a variety of specialised medical equipment and diagnosing patient’s conditions.
A really rewarding part of my job is knowing that I played an integral part in helping diagnose a patient's condition, that leads to effective treatment. And, also working in a multidisciplinary team, and having some awesome colleagues, and working with children.
Moorfields has given me the opportunity to explore how further I can go in my career. Last year I was the team leader in medical imaging, and I was given the opportunity to build on my leadership skills and management skills, in facilitating departmental changes. I feel Moorfields has given me every opportunity to help me in this field.

My name is Amrit and I've been at Moorfields for almost 14 years now.
My current job title is orthoptist. I'm also an orthoptic clinical educator in conjunction with Moorfields and UCL, and I'm also digital transformation project manager.
As an orthoptist we diagnose and manage patients with eye movement problems. We are also experts in vision testing on those who are non-verbal, and children, and people with special educational needs. We act as a support service to other services in the in the hospital. And to the doctors, we assist the doctors in making management decisions. So, every day is different.
Currently within my orthoptic role, I am leading on enhancing clinical education for pre-registration of optic students nationwide. So, we're building simulated educational material to enhance clinical placements for subject students. It's behind the scenes and making online resources.
I've always found that the most rewarding part is helping patients. When I'm a clinician, when I'm seeing a patient and I'm able to make a diagnosis or give them a treatment. We find it really rewarding. For example, giving a child glasses and they can suddenly see when they've not been able to see previously. That's really rewarding for me and those instant results that you see instant satisfaction from patients.
I've been here for almost 14 years and I started off as a junior orthoptist. We’re a small, close-knit family; everyone knows everyone and it's a great place to work. I mean, me being here for so many years is enough to say why it's a good place to work.

My name is George John, and I work as an ophthalmic vision science assistant practitioner. I've been with Moorfields since January 2023, and it's almost a year.
My role covers a range of responsibilities. We start with the assessment and undertaking diagnostic tests, and making the patients sure about what the process is about, and when they're going to hear from us again. Also making a little difference in their journey towards eye care.
The most rewarding part of my role by working in Moorfields is making a difference in the lives of the patients. By starting from their history and doing the test, we can help the clinician to make an appropriate diagnosis. So, with an appropriate diagnosis, we can make a difference in their journey towards their overall eye health and wellbeing.
I think Moorfields have supported me in providing the mentor, giving me the opportunities. And I believe it's Moorfield have a dedicated learning and training professionals’ team, which helps giving more insight towards the training, if one wants to progress in that particular field.

I'm Wayne Sexton, I’m the chief commercial officer and I've been at Moorfields for just over two and a half years.
Within a hospital, there are many functions. Most people think about doctors, nurses and the clinical side, but behind the scenes there are many people carrying out what is the function of helping the hospital to operate.
And the commercial service looks after areas such as procurement and supply chain, and through to really exciting times of looking at our AI technology, and how can we commercialise that all for the benefit of our patients.
My career started 31 years ago in the NHS as a part time job, serving patients meals and a cup of tea before they went to bed. And I never left. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I've never forgotten those times of being there, serving patients and always remembering as I've worked my way through my time in the NHS, that a patient is central to everything that we do. Whether we are frontline or whether we are in a function or service that supports the hospital.
It's a really exciting time to join the trust. There is so much going on here in Moorfields. Not only the future of Oriel, but many other things in terms of technologies that we are creating here and we're playing a part in helping to commercialize those, all for the benefit of the organisation.
